Default Furniture Manufacturer Uses 'Made in the U.S.A.' to Lift Sales

Interesting case study from MarketingSherpa on how Indiana furniture manufacturer Foamiture used promotion of it's American-made products to boost their sales 10%.

The study is available at http://www.marketingsherpa.com/article.php?ident=31383 (free for 10 days, costs thereafter).

The details are in the study, but in short after first verifying their claims (not necessarily a simple task) they launched the messaging on their Web home page, on individual product descriptions, packaging, and phone contacts.

The results after 6 months were impressive.
  • 19.1% increase in orders per day
  • 4.6% increase in order value
  • 10.1% increase in total sales

(taken from the case study cited above)

Anyone know of any made in the USA case studies? either positive or not?

Menard's has been very successful promoting made in USA products in ad campaigns

it works for me - I 'll favor a US made product any day when making a purchase

glad to see this swinging this way - product quality and safety concerns coupled with the need to keep americans employed in the real economy play well into this strategy

So if Foamiture was a foreign owned company would the furniture still deserve the "Made in the USA" label? Fair or not, it's a global economy....get over it!

I guess I should not be surprised by your dismissive "get over it" response sbalomini, a typical response from those who have nothing to offer in terms of solutions or meaningful commentary

Sorry to ruffle your feathers Abogle; but if you read the referenced article, it's not so much "Made in the USA" but "Made by an USA based and owned company". Millions of Americans (myself included) have employment and make things in the USA thanks to the foresight and strategic managerial skills of parent companies "not of these shores". Define the term "Made in the USA" and then have the discussion.
