Exclamation Molson Retirees Face Benefit Slash -- At the Beer Tap

Forget health benefit cuts (although this is from the land of government sponsored health care, Canada) brewer Molson is hitting workers and retirees really where it counts.

Accourding to an article in the Toronto Star:

"Come Jan. 1, the [beer] allotment [for retirees] will be a dozen bottles a month, down from six dozen a month (or 72 dozen a year), and in five years, it will be zero. For current workers, who also get 72 dozen bottles a year, the allotment will drop to 52 dozen. No five-year cut-off is planned."

The union has filed a grievance in protest.

What's next, beer riots in the streets of Toronto?

Default Re: Molson Retirees Face Benefit Slash -- At the Beer Tap

I read some of the comments at the end of the Toronto Star article, and the question is raised: Is the beer a retiree benefit or is it a perk?

I'm not really a beer drinker, so that sounds like an awful lot of free beer to me regardless of the reduction.
