Default Plant Targeted in Salmonella Outbreak

Food poisoning lawyer and attorney Bill Marler has posted an FDA report on his blog that implicates the Peanut Corporation of America's Georgia plant in a salmonella outbreak.

Among the accusations:

The plant shipped product that originally tested positive for salmonella.

The manufacturing line was not properly cleaned after salmonella was identified.

Proper sanitation steps weren't followed

Ceilings were in disrepair, allowing water to leak

Poor ventilation and other design flaws pose contamination risks.

If ANY of this rings true, there should be criminal charges brought against the company directors if it can be shown who made the decision to break the rules. Standards and rules mean absolutely nothing without some kind of enforcement.

.....after reading the report in full - I'd shut this plant down. Washing food utensils, hands, and mops in the same sink?? Would you do this in your own kitchen? Why not just cut out the middle-man and do it all in the toilet.....
