Default The West Doesn't Understand India

A reader replies to: European Auto Sector Threatened by WTO Deal

The west does not understand India or they do not want to understand India. About 75% to 80% people live in India and do not get the benefit of the economic boom that we notice. This economic boom is restricted to cities. Like what happened to Romans may also happen to India unless some thing is done fast. Indian economy therefore is not affected by the American down slide it affects the developed countries only. India is self sufficient in food and need not import cars or any thing for that matter to survive. Now USA and Europe give more farm subsidy than what India gives. Today USA is down wants to export to India without allowing Indian goods to go in to their country. What a one sided game and that happened during East India Company days of the British times when India sent raw material to the UK and received finished goods from there and UK economy flourished at the cost of the poor India and same thing can not happen again. Developed countries must realise that today their economies need India more than India needs them. As against China an Indian farmer hardly consumes any thing for survival. India is not a debt economy. The propensity to save is more than propensity to spend and there fore the west must allow Indian products in to their countries and no import duty first rather talking about one sided free economy. They do not have the technology of producing cheap. If India is allowed to export its farm products in to USA & Europe there will be rural boom in India and that will benefit the world economy. World economy does not mean US economy. Think about a situation where each country produces what they are good at and not do every thing. India is good at cheap farm production then let it do that. India does not require factories let it be there in China and let china USA and Europe and Africa get the benefit of our farm products. India has the best quality of agriculture land. It is the gifts of the nature accept it. Do not disturb it by inflicting terrorism or unequal trade agreements. Today west can not corner India.

I feel horrible when I see abject subjugation by Japan such great nation has lost its pride and is still under US domination which started during the 2nd world war. Let the west allow Indian goods in their countries first at free import duty and then talk and for that there need not be WTO meeting these are nothing but waste of time where we find same old trick of extracting benefit at the cost of poor nations.

Good thing an Indian wrote that. If a Westerner had said that, he would have been acussed of trying to trick India into being a weak subservient supplier of food at the mercy of every country with a strong military based on a strong manufacturing sector.
