According to a
Bloomberg.com article, the likes of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Michael Dell would be denied entry to the United Kingdom under the top tier of the UK's new immigration rules. The top tier is aimed at the highly-skilled, such as doctors, computer experts and like, the article states.
Why would they be denied? Because they lack college degrees. What they've achieved in life, regardless of that lack of a degree, doesn't appear to hold any weight.
I bring this up because, as in the United States, immigration is a big issue in the United Kingdom. As in this country, there is outrage by some in the UK about immigrants taking jobs away from UK citizens.
The Bloomberg article outlines Britain's new approach (which seems not to have required Parliament's approval). It's a five-tiered, points system that is being rolled out over several years. Look the article over. Does the UK's plan include aspects that could work in the U.S.?
