Default Re: Health Care & Manufacturing

It is naive to think that our federal government is capable of collecting a 'sin' tax, placing it in a trust fund and using the proceeds only for the specified purpose. Are you familiar with the 'Social Security Trust Fund'?

Mr. Ross asks what sets us apart from the rest of the world? You need look no further than the use of the word 'LIBERTY' in our Constitution.

Rather than hoping that the government will eventually take care of things, shouldn't manufacturing be working with our legislators in developing things like the tort reform that has been so successful in Texas? This is one thing that would contribute to lower health care costs.

To further reduce costs manufacturers could be working with the insurers to provide a wider range of insurance offerings. Our auto insurnace does not cover oil changes, so why should our health insurance cover routine office visits, maintenance drugs and teeth cleaning? At least provide a plan to those who think it fits them and can handle the out of pocket costs. Most doctors will reduce the charge for office visits if they don't have to deal with a third party. Health insurance for catatrophic care only should be more widely investigated as an alternative plan.

Enforcing our current immigration laws would also go a long ways towards reducing medical costs and taxes as we remove millions of illegal aliens from using emergency rooms at a cost to rest of us through the medical costs we pay and using state and federal tax dollars for whatever coverage they are able to receive both legally and illegally.

Healthcare is an issue for the individual. Employers offer healthcare as a benefit to attract and retain the right employees. The government does not need thier hands in the business of employer and the individual.

As for hoping the the manufacturing czar will help, good luck with that. The only thing I have seen out of this administrations current crop of czars is the promise of more restrictions on the employer and individual.
