Default Manufacturing ERP & Enterprise Systems

Is anyone here interested in discussing manufacturing ERP or other enterprise systems? For example, best practices in effective software selection and implementation?

I know of a company that uses the MS NAV ERP system. The system, of course has its good points and bad, but overall the job of producing the product is handled in a very impressive manner. All of the departments including: customer service, service, production, shipping, and accounting are tied together in one cohesive system. With the purchase of options, the NAV system also has the ability to tie in operations from e-commerce customers. One other impressive option of the system is its flexibility. For instance, the system will provide metrics showing the productive output of each and every employee on the system.

Integration of all business functions and transactional tracking and analysis of that is one of many ERP system attributes. Any worthwhile ERP package would have these features. Many times short cuts during implementation will come back to haunt the functionality of your system. If implemented properly an "ERP & Enterprise System" will be a real time working model of your entire business process including the supply chains.
