I thought I'd drop in a brief report from the IW Best Plants Conference (http://www.iwbestplants.com), which is underway in Indianapolis, Indiana.
While the conference sessions start on the 24th, the registration and a few of the plant tours began today.
I had the opportunity to tour the Schneider Electric, Peru Operations facility (http://www.iwbestplants.com/tours_Schneider_2007.asp) (a 2006 IW Best Plants winner)
I was originally going to try to come up with a post of the tour, but then I realized I would just be repeating (and not as well) the article that Jon Katz did back in October (http://www.industryweek.com/ReadArticle.aspx?ArticleID=12681&SectionID=43).
Clearly though, it was great to see the principles in action on the floor, in a real environment. We were broken up into 10 person groups, each with two members of the plant staff accompanying us, so the tour participants had a great opportunity to talk to the staff.
